Job Purpose
The Credit Control Officer will ensure prompt payments from business customers, manage credit risk, maintain customer relationships, and oversee all credit and collections processes to safeguard the company’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement credit control procedures and policies to ensure timely payments while retaining customers.
Evaluate new credit requests and conduct client credit risk assessments.
Set credit terms for new clients and oversee customer account reconciliations.
Monitor adherence to credit and collection policies.
Prepare monthly debt collection reports and highlight overdue accounts.
Resolve invoice discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
Collaborate with sales representatives and receivables officers to recover overdue debts.
Respond to customer finance-related inquiries and provide timely feedback to management.
Identify changes in customer payment patterns and propose preventive measures.
Recommend write-offs of bad debts when necessary.
Maintain records of debt-chasing activities, including calls, visits, and customer feedback.
Circulate monthly customer statements and ensure accuracy in credit notes and set-offs.
